Timeline of PLN's Explanation Regarding Partial Power Outage in Jakarta Yesterday, Fully Restored in 4 Hours
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Electricity in several areas of Jakarta and its surroundings was temporarily out on Thursday (23/4/2026). The disruption began at 10.25 WIB, prompting complaints from residents as it hindered their activities.
Senior Manager of Communication and Public Relations for PLN’s Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit, Haris Andika, stated that the disruption was caused by technical issues in the electrical system.
“A power supply disruption occurred, affecting several areas in Jakarta. PLN is focused on restoration efforts,” Haris said in an official statement on Thursday (23/4/2026).
He explained that the electrical system in Jakarta and its surroundings is supported by 76 substations, of which 13 were impacted by the disruption. This condition led to the halt of electricity supply in several areas.
“Our technical teams are carrying out intensive handling to restore the entire electrical system,” Haris said.
Most affected customers began to enjoy electricity supply again at 12.23 WIB. Meanwhile, the remaining approximately 5% of customers were successfully restored at 15.05 WIB.
PLN also confirmed that the electrical system in Jakarta has been 100% restored on the same day.
“PLN continues to strive to strengthen the reliability of the electrical system and conveys apologies for the inconvenience caused,” he said.
He also emphasised that the primary energy supply is in a safe and sufficient condition.
“PLN assures that the current condition is normal, including the readiness of safe and sufficient primary energy supply,” said Gregorius.
Although the system has been restored, PLN is still conducting investigations to ensure the main cause of the disruption.
“Personnel are currently tracing the source of the disruption,” he said.
