Police have revealed the timeline of a single motorcycle accident involving two riders, FNM (23) and RKY (23), on Jalan H Nonon Sonthanie, Duren Jaya Village, Bekasi Timur District, Bekasi City, on Monday evening (25 May 2026).
Head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (Gakkum) at Bekasi City Metropolitan Police Traffic Police, Inspector Rojali, said the accident began when both victims, riding a Honda Vario motorcycle with number plate B 4208, were travelling from Jalan Ganda Agung towards Bella Hospital in Bekasi Timur.
“When they reached the scene, the victims tried to avoid a pothole, but the motorcycle became uncontrollable and crashed onto the road,” Rojali said in a text message to Kompas.com on Tuesday (26 May 2026).
They were rushed to Bekasi City Regional Hospital and are still receiving treatment.
“Both victims are alive and undergoing medical treatment at the hospital,” Rojali said.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of Rawalumbu Police Station, Assistant Inspector Kuwati Asih, explained that police immediately responded to the accident report by visiting the scene.
Personnel from Rawalumbu Police Station’s Patko 9401 team, Assistant Inspector Arif Budi W and Constable Ade, were deployed to inspect the accident scene.
“However, upon arrival, the victims had already been evacuated by locals to Bekasi City Regional Hospital for medical treatment,” he said.
Nevertheless, police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The suspected pothole has been marked with white paint and covered with soil.
The road conditions at the site are uneven with several long potholes in various spots. The route is a heavily trafficked area, especially during rush hours and school dismissal times.
Local resident Anis (34) said accidents caused by potholes in the area are common.
“There are many potholes here. People frequently fall and get into accidents,” Anis said when interviewed at the scene.
