Timeline of Man's Death After Being Attacked in a Billiards Hall in West Jakarta, Starting with an Argument with His Girlfriend
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A man, identified by the initials DM (28), died after being attacked by a group of people at a billiards hall in the Grogol Petamburan area, West Jakarta, early Sunday morning (10/5/2026).
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said that the incident began with an argument between the victim and several other people.
“The incident began with a commotion at the location, which then continued to the second floor of the Grogol Market. The victim is suspected of being attacked by several people, then fell to the ground floor and lost consciousness,” Budi told Kompas.com on Friday (15/5/2026).
Then, his younger brother, DM, came to intervene. However, he instead became the target of the fight. DM was attacked, then fell to the first floor.
Downstairs, DM was again assaulted and suffered head injuries.
“He had already been beaten up upstairs like that, then pushed from the second floor. He was pushed again on the second floor, fell to the ground, and was still kicked,” said Mita when contacted by Kompas.com.
At that time, DM was already unconscious. He was immediately rushed to Tarakan Hospital for medical treatment.
His brainstem suffered bleeding, which caused DM to be in a coma.
After four days in hospital, DM finally passed away on Thursday (14/5/2026).
The police have conducted a crime scene investigation, questioned witnesses, and collected evidence, including CCTV footage.
