Timeline of 18 KPK Sting Operations Throughout 2026
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has demonstrated high intensity in its enforcement actions throughout 2026. According to compiled data, the anti-graft body has conducted a series of sting operations (OTT) that have ensnared dozens of parties, ranging from ministry officials and law enforcers to numerous regional heads.
The KPK opened the year 2026 with its first OTT on 9-10 January. In this operation, eight people were arrested on suspicion of bribery related to tax audits at the North Jakarta Madya Tax Office (KPP), Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance, for the period 2021-2026.
Still in January, the KPK continued its enforcement actions by arresting the Mayor of Madiun, Maidi, in the second OTT. Shortly thereafter, the Regent of Pati, Sudewo, was caught in the third OTT.
Entering February 2026, the KPK’s focus shifted to the taxation and judicial sectors. The fourth OTT targeted the Head of the Banjarmasin Madya KPP in South Kalimantan. In the same month, the fifth OTT ensnared Rizal, the former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, who was serving as the Head of the Customs Regional Office for Western Sumatra.
The judicial sector also came under scrutiny. In the sixth OTT, the KPK arrested the Head of the Depok District Court, I Wayan Eka Mariarta, along with the Deputy Head of the Depok District Court, Bambang Setyawan.
During March 2026, which coincided with the holy month of Ramadhan, the KPK conducted three separate operations that resulted in the arrest of three regents simultaneously.
In April 2026, the Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo, became the target of the 10th OTT. Following this intensive period, the KPK recorded no sting operations throughout May 2026.
Enforcement activity increased again in June 2026. A notable moment was the surrender of the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Silmy Karim, after the KPK conducted an operation related to his institution.
Up to July 2026, the KPK continued to extend its list of enforcement actions against regional heads. Three regents were arrested in quick succession.
