Timber warehouse fire in Pamulang, South Tangerang sends plumes of black smoke sky-high
South Tangerang - A timber warehouse on Jalan Pondok Cabe Ilir in Pamulang, South Tangerang, caught fire Thursday evening (28 May 2026). Kompas.com’s observations at 22:20 WIB showed dense plumes of black smoke rising high, with acrid smell of burning lingering in the area. Firefighters were still actively working to extinguish the flames, spraying water on smouldering wooden debris. Some wore masks or cloth over their faces due to dense smoke. Although the once towering flames visible from afar have now subsided, the area has been cordoned off with police tape to keep the public away. Pamulang police officers also stood guard, using a loudspeaker to urge residents not to approach the site. “We request no one approaches the firefighting area. Your cooperation will help us complete the operation swiftly,” said a police officer on Thursday. “Firefighting units have been deployed. The exact number will be confirmed later as operations continue,” Imam stated when contacted Thursday evening. Initially, two firefighting vehicles were sent after the blaze was reported. However, due to rapid spreading and the highly flammable nature of the timber, additional units were deployed to assist. The cause of the fire and any casualties remain unknown.
