TikTok-Tokopedia Denies Layoffs, Says It Is Restructuring Workforce

The Executive Director of Tokopedia and TikTok E-commerce Indonesia, Stephanie Susilo, has denied reports of layoffs within the TikTok and Tokopedia Group. She emphasised that the company is currently conducting workforce restructuring and internal mobility.

This statement was made by Stephanie following a coordination meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, and the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (6/7/2026).

“There are several points I wish to convey. First, there are no layoffs in TikTok or the Tokopedia group,” said Stephanie, as reported by detikFinance.

According to her, the company is undergoing an organisational realignment accompanied by the transfer of employees to other business units within the group.

“What is happening is a workforce restructuring that we are currently undertaking, along with internal mobility within TikTok or the Tokumbia Group,” Susilo continued.

Stephanie explained that during this restructuring process, the company is providing several options to affected employees. Some have chosen to accept compensation packages and pursue careers in other companies, while others have been reassigned to different positions within the TikTok Tokopedia business group.

“In this restructuring programme, some have indeed chosen to take compensation packages and move to other workplaces, or have been redeployed within the TikTok Tokopedia business group,” she said.

In contrast to the rumours, she stated that the company is currently opening over 100 job vacancies across Indonesia.

“We are also currently recruiting for more than 100 positions in Indonesia. This is what we are conveying to clarify the news circulating in the public,” she concluded.
