TikTok Reveals Series of Efforts to Comply with PP Tunas Implementation
Social media platform TikTok has disclosed a series of efforts to comply with the implementation of PP Tunas (Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection), which comes into effect today, Saturday, 28 March 2026.
One of the steps it will take is to follow the provisions for regulating accounts of teenagers under 16 years old after completing the self-assessment process.
“TikTok is committed to complying with this regulation in accordance with the transition period outlined in PP Tunas, including taking compliance measures related to accounts of teenagers under 16 years old after the self-assessment process,” reads TikTok’s official statement received on Saturday (28/3).
TikTok states that it will continue to consult intensively with Kemkomdigi to follow the applicable rules in Indonesia. It then explains a series of efforts it has undertaken to protect children in the digital space while operating in Indonesia before PP Tunas was officially enforced.
One of these efforts is proactively deleting content deemed to violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines before receiving complaint reports.
“Of all the content we delete for violating our rules, 99.1 percent of them are deleted proactively before the content is reported,” states TikTok.
In terms of securing teen user data privacy, TikTok claims to have more than 50 security, privacy, and safety settings automatically enabled. Closing its statement, TikTok plans to strengthen its security system to protect users, and this will certainly be communicated to users in Indonesia as further guidance becomes available.
“We will continue to engage constructively with Komdigi in the self-assessment process and hope that this regulation will be applied fairly and consistently to all social media platforms,” TikTok concludes its statement.
