'Tighten security for Idul Fitri'

JAKARTA (JP): People should increase their efforts to ensure their homes and neighborhoods are secure during the Idul Fitri holiday, as many homes will be left empty, the spokesman for the National Police, Brig.Gen. Nurfaizi said.

People planning to leave their homes should ask neighbors to keep an eye on their houses. "If necessary report to the local police," Nurfaizi said Thursday.

"Please heighten cooperation with neighbors and strengthen local patrol groups," Nurfaizi said.

Leave lamps on terraces and driveways switched on. He added that potentially flammable material should be checked and measures taken to prevent it from catching fire. (04/anr)
