Tight Security for Good Friday 2026 Worship in Depok City
Super tight security was implemented at 120 churches in Depok City, West Java, during Good Friday worship in 2026. A total of 198 Police personnel were deployed to ensure the safety and comfort of Christian congregations during the Good Friday services on Friday (3/4/2026).
The Head of the Depok Metro Police Resort, Commissioner Abdul Waras, stated that his side deployed Police personnel to secure the community, particularly Christian worshippers conducting Good Friday services.
“We are also collaborating with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Depok City Government, including security from the churches,” said Waras.
Waras added that the 2026 Good Friday celebrations in Depok City ran safely, smoothly, and solemnly. The synergy between the police, TNI, and the community ensured that the worship proceeded conducive in all church environments.
“Christian congregations followed this worship commemorating the death of Jesus Christ in a quiet atmosphere full of reflection,” he said.
Waras explained that security apparatus routinely conduct sterilisation and tight security to ensure the smooth running of services in the churches. In addition to guarding the churches, officers also regulated traffic so that congregations could worship safely.
“The police actively secure the churches to ensure that the congregation can worship peacefully,” he added.
Church members in Depok City gave high appreciation for the security provided by the police apparatus during the 2026 Good Friday worship. The presence of police and TNI was deemed to allow worshippers to pray calmly, safely, and devoutly.
“We appreciate and thank the Police, TNI, and Depok City Government for securing the churches during the Good Friday celebrations and ensuring a sense of safety for Christian congregations commemorating the death of Jesus Christ,” said Vero Simarmata, 29, one of the congregation members.
Vero added that Christian congregations around the world, including in Depok City, commemorate Good Friday and prepare for Easter celebrations as a sacred moment rich in spiritual meaning.
“The Easter celebrations, which fall a few days later, are prepared as a symbol of the victory of faith and resurrection, which is believed to bring new spirit in facing various life challenges,” Vero concluded.
