Tifa's Trial in Jokowi Diploma Case to Begin July 2 at East Jakarta Court
The East Jakarta District Court (PN Jaktim) will hold the first hearing in the case of alleged slander regarding President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) diploma, with defendant Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Dr Tifa, on Thursday, 2 July 2026. The trial for co-defendant KRM Roy Suryo Notodiprojo will be adjusted pending his pre-trial motion at the South Jakarta District Court.
‘The first hearing for Roy Suryo’s case has not yet been scheduled by the panel of judges because we are still waiting for his pre-trial application at the South Jakarta District Court,’ stated PN Jaktim spokesperson Immanuel Tarigan via written message on Wednesday (24/6). ‘For the Tifauziah Tyassuma case, the first hearing will be on Thursday, 2 July 2026, at 09.00 WIB in the Prof Kusuma Atmadja main courtroom of PN Jaktim,’ he added.
Both cases will be examined and adjudicated by a panel of judges led by Christina Endarwati, with members Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina.
Previously, the Metro Jaya Regional Police had transferred Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office on Monday. The transfer followed the arrest of the two suspects on Friday (19/6).
The Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, explained that the arrests were part of the process of handing over the suspects and evidence from investigators to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office. This step was taken after the case files were declared complete, or P-21, by the prosecution.
‘To ensure the presence of the suspects during the handover of suspects and evidence proceeds smoothly, investigators must confirm the whereabouts and attendance of the suspects,’ Iman said on Friday.
After their arrest, Roy and Tifa were taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for medical examinations. Based on the results, doctors recommended that both undergo inpatient care to ensure their health remained stable. Subsequently, the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office decided not to detain Roy and Tifa.
Head of the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, Marcelo Bellah, stated that the decision was made in accordance with applicable mechanisms and regulations. ‘In accordance with the applicable mechanisms and provisions, the suspects were not detained,’ Marcelo said. However, both Roy and Tifa are required to report once a week. Roy has already filed a pre-trial motion with the South Jakarta District Court to challenge the legal process.
