Tickets on sale for Asian Games

BANGKOK (AFP): Tickets for the 13th Asian Games in Thailand in December will go on sale across the region next week, organizers said Friday.

Around 14,700 tickets of the total of 77,000 have so far been sold in Thailand for ceremonies at the start and end of the games and tickets for other events go on sale at the end of the month, organizers said.

The Dec. 6-20 Games will feature 38 sports and all 43 Olympic Committee of Asia member countries, but there are fears the region's economic crisis could overshadow the event -- some nations have already cut the size of their teams.

Ticket prices range from a US$0.25 to $20 and go on sale on Oct. 15.
