Ticket refund
Ticket refund
My brother got an assignment to Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
His company bought him a Jakarta-Balikpapan return ticket through
Greentour Travel Bureau in Cilandak, South Jakarta.
When his assignment was completed, he changed his Balikpapan-
Jakarta route with a Balikpapan-Yogyakarta route, for some
reason. For the refund the Merpati agent in Balikpapan issued an
exchange coupon.
The ticket and coupon were then submitted to Greentour's
Bandung office on Jan. 24, 1996, in the hope that he could settle
his travel account with his company. The Greentour staff gave him
a receipt and promised that they would inform me about the refund
process, as I live in Bandung.
A month passed, but nothing happened. I phoned Greentour
inquiring about the refund. They apologized because the papers
were misplaced. I was asked to send a copy of the receipt by
facsimile. Again, they promised that they would inform me of
developments.
Another month past. On March 18, 1996, I phoned Greentour
again, but in an angry voice, a female staffer bored me with a
tale about the procedure of getting a refund from her company.
She explained that as the ticket was bought in Cilandak, it is
the Cilandak office which should handle the matter. Sorry, but I
could not stand their way of doing business, so I put the
receiver down.
I have never had an experience like this before. I now
question Greentour's professionalism.
The value of the refund does not really matter. Without it, my
brother can still give an explanation to his company.
