Jakarta – The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police opened a Mobile Driving Licence (SIM) service at five locations for Jakarta residents who wish to renew the validity period of their driving licence requirements, on Thursday.

Through the X account @tmcpoldametro, it was announced that the service operates from 08:00 to 14:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The locations are as follows:

  • East Jakarta: Front lobby of Grand Cakung Mall

  • North Jakarta: Main lobby of LTC Glodok Mall

  • South Jakarta: Parking area beside Trilogi University

  • West Jakarta: South lobby of Ciputra Mall

  • Central Jakarta: Parking area of Lapangan Banteng Post Office

The requirements are a valid photocopy of KTP, then the old physical SIM and a photocopy, health check evidence, and a psychology test certificate. The Mobile SIM service can only renew SIMs that are still valid for certain categories, namely SIM A and SIM C.

This service only handles renewals for SIM A and SIM C that are still valid; for holders whose SIM has expired, a new SIM application must be made at Satpas SIM Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.

The validity of the SIM is now calculated as five years from the date of issue and is no longer aligned with the holder’s date of birth. This policy ensures that the expiry date of the SIM is determined based on the issue date, not the applicant’s date of birth.

For the renewal fee, in accordance with Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020 concerning the Types and Rates of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) for the police, the fee is Rp80,000 for SIM A renewals and Rp75,000 for SIM C renewals.

In addition to these fees, applicants also need to pay other additional costs. Including a psychology test fee of Rp60,000 and a health test fee of Rp35,000.

As information, drivers who cannot present a valid SIM will face sanctions under Article 288 paragraph 2 of Law Number 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation. The maximum penalty can be up to one month of imprisonment or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
