Thursday: Mobile Driver's Licence (SIM) Services Available at Five Jakarta Locations

The Traffic Police Directorate (Ditlantas) of Polda Metro Jaya has opened five mobile driver’s licence (SIM) service locations for residents needing to renew their valid driving permits across Jakarta on Thursday. The mobile SIM services provided by Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya aim to simplify the process for residents to renew their legally required driving permits. The service is available from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM WIB, as announced on the X account @tmcpoldametro.

Locations:

East Jakarta: Grand Cakung Mall front lobby

North Jakarta: LTC Glodok Mall main lobby

South Jakarta: Trilogi University parking area

West Jakarta: Ciputra Mall south lobby

Central Jakarta: Lapangan Banteng Post Office parking area

Requirements include a valid ID card (KTP) copy, the original physical SIM, a health check certificate, and a psychological test certificate. The mobile SIM service only renews valid SIMs for categories A and C. This service only processes renewals for valid category A and C SIMs; those with expired SIMs must apply for new ones at the Daan Mogot SIM Service Office in West Jakarta.

SIM validity is now calculated as five years from the issue date, no longer based on the holder’s birthday. This policy ensures the expiry date is determined by the issue date rather than the applicant’s birth date.

Renewal fees, per PP No. 76/2020 on Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) rates for the police, are Rp80,000 for category A and Rp75,000 for category C SIMs. Applicants must also pay additional fees: Rp100,000 for the psychological test and Rp50,000 for the health check.

Drivers unable to present a valid SIM face penalties under Article 288(2) of Law No. 22/2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation. The maximum penalty is one month’s imprisonment or a fine of up to Rp250,000.
