Thumbs up for Texmaco

Thumbs up for Texmaco

From Merdeka

President Soeharto's dream in his efforts to develop the country over 27 years has been realized through the Texmaco plant in the Subang area of West Java. Pak Harto made it a point to officiate at the ceremony at Texmaco.

When he boarded a truck manufactured by the Texmaco group, Pak Harto made a thumbs-up gesture to M. Sinivasan and his group because they had succeeded in producing trucks under the name of "Perkasa" with a load capacity ranging from 8 tons to 40-45 tons. Their achievement is of the highest order.

This is especially true when considering the country's monetary and economic crisis. The Texmaco group has shown its capability to produce trucks. It plans to manufacture 35,000 trucks a year, at a market price of US$10,000 per unit.

Other automotive parts are produced at this industrial estate. The objective is to manufacture automotive components of up to 85 percent in the next three years. Texmaco managing director M. Sinivasan said the products would later be exported to several countries as similar industries in developed nations had started to reduce their production or closed down entirely due to extremely high labor costs.

Indonesia is proud of the achievements of Texmaco in constructing an automotive industry estate in the Subang area.
