Thugs make off with Rp 15 million
Three men armed with sickles and daggers robbed a man on Jl. Tubagus Angke, West Jakarta, on Monday, making off with Rp 15 million in cash and a host of valuables.
Hermansyah, 26, an employee of PT Mudori Garment, was riding his motorbike en route to the West Jakarta branch of the state- owned BDNI bank to deposit a sum of money ordered by his boss when three men appeared out of nowhere and stopped him, the Pos Kota daily reported.
The toughs allegedly placed sickles to Hermansyah's neck and forced him to surrender a bag containing Rp 15 million in banknotes, a wallet, a wristwatch and three gold rings.
At first the young man gamely offered resistance, but he was rendered helpless when one of the thugs wounded his right arm, the report said.
With his arm bleeding profusely, Hermansyah, who resides at Jl. Jembatan Besi, West Jakarta, reported the incident to a nearby police station. Police are still hunting the robbers. (bas)
