Thugs face extermination

SEMARANG: City police chief Lt. Col. Moch. Soewondo vowed yesterday to "exterminate" gangsters who refuse to repent and cooperate with the authorities.

Soewondo said gangsters have swarmed the capital of Central Java, making the city unsafe.

Soewondo made the statement a day after one of Semarang's most wanted criminals, Sumadi, 20, was found murdered by gangsters.

Yesterday, the police arrested two men who extorted money from a taxi driver, Antara reported. (pan)
