Through This Programme, KPI RU IV Cilacap Successfully Achieves PROPER Gold 2025

PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Refinery Unit IV Cilacap (PT KPI RU IV Cilacap) has successfully obtained the PROPER Gold award for 2025 from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, recognising its dedication and commitment to sustainable environmental governance.

This achievement stems from the company’s efforts in managing the living environment in both operational aspects and for the surrounding community.

The award was personally presented by the Minister of Environment and Forestry/Head of the Environment and Forestry Management Agency, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, to the company’s representatives at the PROPER Environmental Awards event at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

For context, the Company Performance Rating Programme (PROPER) is held annually to enhance corporate compliance with environmental regulations.

The programme that led to this award is the Innovation Programme for Utilising Stripping Gas Overhead 140C-602 in the LNHT ISOM Unit as Utility Boiler Fuel, which improves combustion efficiency and saves 244,387.79 GJ of energy.

Additionally, the Coke Cleaning Programme on the Tip Burner Fuel Gas Using Steam Injection Method Through the De-Coking Device reduces emissions by 90,398.48 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

There is also the PEPSI ABAH Programme in FOREST (Improving Ammonia and Sulphide Removal Efficiency in Wastewater Through the Use of Fouling-Resistant Tray and Steam Injection Coupling in SWS RFCC), which saves 69.32 tonnes of ammonia in water.

For information, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Refinery Unit IV Cilacap (PT KPI RU IV Cilacap) is Indonesia’s largest oil refinery, located in Cilacap, Central Java, with a capacity of 348,000 barrels per day. Operational since 1976, the refinery produces fuels, lube base oil, LPG, and asphalt.

Currently, PT KPI RU IV Cilacap is implementing the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project to enhance efficiency, added value, competitiveness, and reduce fuel imports.
