Through the Desa Brilian Programme, BRI Successfully Elevates MSMEs
PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) continues to pursue the empowerment, mentoring, and training of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Many MSMEs fostered by BRI are now developing and moving up the value chain through various innovations.
One example is an MSME from Benteng Village, Ciampea, Bogor, which processes cassava into modern food products in the Cassava tourism village. Benteng Village MSME actor Nugrahini Rahayu said that the presence of Desa Brilian has been beneficial in guiding MSMEs that previously lacked direction.
“What I felt before was that MSMEs were on their own, with no clear direction and no one to guide them,” she said. “Since the Desa Brilian programme, we MSME actors have received guidance. Previously, we were far from receiving CSR. After we won third place in the tourism village competition, alhamdulillah, BRI provided Rp 1 billion in CSR, which we distributed to every destination in Benteng.”
The Cassava cluster has had a positive impact on the local economic cycle by processing cassava into various food products, such as modified cassava flour (Mocaf) and various processed foods like Mocaf brownies.
Nugrahini explained that Mocaf is now increasingly known and accepted by the public as an alternative ingredient to wheat flour. “Alhamdulillah, now Mocaf flour made from cassava can replace the function of wheat flour. Wheat flour can make bread, and Mocaf can too,” she said.
Continuous support and mentoring from BRI are highly anticipated by MSME actors, whether through financial access, training, or market access expansion. This is part of BRI’s effort to elevate MSMEs so they can grow and become competitive.
Through the Desa Brilian programme, BRI has provided Rp 1 billion in CSR funds to Benteng Village, as one of five winning villages receiving grants or assistance for village development. In addition to CSR funds, BRI provides various mentoring programmes and support for activities in the Benteng tourism village, including full support for local MSME actors.
