Thrill of Victory...
* Indonesia's Yayuk Basuki is one of the two Asian women to have reached the final 16 at Wimbledon during its 111 years.
Yayuk and Japan's Naoko Sawamatsu both made the fourth round in 1992, and Yayuk repeated this feat in 1993 and 1994.
Sawamatsu's aunt, Kazuo Sawamatsu, is the only Asian woman to have won a doubles title at Wimbledon with her 1975 victory with Ann Kiyomura of the U.S.
* The most successful women's doubles pair, in terms of losing the fewest games, was Shirley Fry and Doris Hart in 1953. They defeated Maureen Connolly and Julia Sampson 6-0, 6-0 in the final. They also won their semifinal match without losing a game!
* In 1911, Dorothea Lambert Chambers thrashed Dora Boothby 6-0, 6-0 to achieve the only shut-out in Wimbledon singles finals history.
