Three Youths Who Threw Firecrackers at a Minibus in Tangerang Finally Detained by Police
Police swiftly investigated the viral incident of youths throwing firecrackers at a minibus driver in Tangerang City. Three perpetrators have been detained in connection with the incident.
“We quickly moved to verify the authenticity of the circulating video. After clarifying the situation with the victims and the perpetrators, we facilitated a meeting to resolve the matter amicably, while still upholding the principles of law and justice,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tangerang City Metro Police, AKBP Parikhesit, in a statement on Thursday (February 26, 2026).
The three teenagers who were detained are DA (20), RDS (16), and UPY (21). The firecracker-throwing incident occurred on a Cikokol-Ciledug route minibus on Jalan Maulana Hasanudin RT 07 RW 01, Cipondoh Village, Tangerang District, Tangerang City.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday (February 24) at around 02:00 AM. Police stated that there were no casualties in the incident.
Parikesit said that the police facilitated a meeting between both parties. The parents of the three perpetrators also attended.
In the mediation forum, the perpetrators and their families directly apologized to the two drivers for their actions and promised not to repeat them.
“The perpetrators realized their mistake and have apologized to the victims and the public. Both parties agreed to resolve the matter peacefully by signing a joint agreement,” he added.
The Head of the Tangerang City Metro Police, Kombes Raden Muhammad Jauhari, emphasized that the problem-solving approach was carried out by considering the humanitarian aspect, the age of the perpetrators, and the social impact caused, without ignoring legal responsibility.
“We urge all members of the public, especially young people, not to take actions that endanger themselves or others. Social media is not a place to seek sensation by violating the law,” said Jauhari.

A video recording showing a group of youths throwing firecrackers at a minibus driver in the Tangerang City area went viral on social media. Police investigated the incident.
In the circulating video, it can be seen that several youths were initially holding firecrackers. The number of firecrackers they held was quite large.
Another video shows the youths then riding around on a motorcycle. They then threw the firecrackers at a moving minibus.
The minibus driver appeared shocked when the firecrackers were thrown. The firecrackers went right into the minibus on the left side of the driver’s seat.
