Three youths have been arrested for breaking into the offering box at the Kanjeng Ratu Kidul shrine within Pura Tirta Segara Rupek, located in Gilimanuk, Melaya District, Jembrana, Bali. The suspects, identified by the initials IBK (23), MAD (20), and R (18), were apprehended at their respective homes in the Gilimanuk area on Monday (8/6).

“The three suspects have been detained and they admitted to taking money from the offering box together by damaging the shrine door,” said Kompol I Gusti Kade Alit Murdiasa, Head of the Gilimanuk Port Police, when contacted on Friday (12/6/2026).

The theft was first discovered a day before the arrests when a witness visiting the temple for cleaning found the shrine door damaged with signs of forced entry. The witness immediately reported the incident to the temple custodian, who then forwarded the report to the Gilimanuk Port Police.

Following the report, police conducted a series of investigations and processed the crime scene. Officers collected fingerprint samples left at the location. “From the investigation and fingerprint matching, we obtained data that strongly pointed towards the perpetrators,” Murdiasa explained.

Officers then apprehended the three young men at their respective homes without resistance. During initial interrogation, they admitted to damaging the shrine door and breaking into the offering box. The box contained cash from worshippers amounting to Rp 76,000 and two United States dollar bills. Despite the relatively small sum, police are continuing with legal proceedings against the trio.

Police seized several pieces of evidence from the suspects, including the damaged offering box, the two US dollar bills, and a motorcycle with registration number DK 6370 ZC used during the crime. The three youths are currently being held at the police station. “The perpetrators along with the evidence have been secured at the Gilimanuk Port Police station for further investigation. We are also still developing the case to find out if there are other crime scenes they have previously targeted,” Murdiasa concluded.
