Three West Java Police Members Face Ethics Trial After Altercation with Security Guard in Jakarta

The West Java Regional Police have confirmed that three of its members are facing disciplinary confinement and an ethics trial following an altercation with a security guard at the Bundaran HI roundabout in Central Jakarta. The incident occurred after the officers, who were in an Alphard, were reprimanded for allegedly running a red light at a pedestrian crossing.

“We confirm that three members of the West Java Police committed inappropriate actions,” said the Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, in a statement on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Despite a reported reconciliation between the parties, Rochmawan stated that the Professional and Internal Security Division (Bidpropam) is continuing its investigation. The results of the inquiry found sufficient evidence of an alleged violation of the Police Professional Code of Ethics, as stipulated in Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022.

“Today we are conducting marathon examinations, and once the investigation process is complete, we will immediately place them in special confinement (patsus),” he added. The West Java Police emphasized their commitment to acting firmly, professionally, and transparently against any violations by their members, and expressed appreciation for public criticism and input as part of efforts to improve their service.

The police also issued an apology to the security guard, identified as Victor, for the inappropriate actions of the officers. The incident, which was captured on video and shared on the Instagram account @jakpus24jam.id, showed the security guard being led towards the Pospol Thamrin police post by two men after he had reprimanded the driver of the black Alphard for running a red light at the pedestrian crossing.
