Three Warehouses in Tangerang Destroyed by Fire, Brimob Assists in Extinguishing
A fire destroyed three warehouses in the Pergudangan 75 area on Jalan Perancis, Benda District, Tangerang City, on Sunday evening (19/7). Personnel from the Gegana Detachment of the Metro Jaya Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) were deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire.
The fire broke out around 6:27 PM Western Indonesia Time. It was successfully extinguished after 4.5 hours, with the cooling-down process continuing until approximately 11:00 PM. Gegana personnel who were on patrol received the report and immediately moved to the location to accelerate fire control and ensure the handling process remained safe until the flames were completely out.
Metro Jaya Police Brimob Commander, Senior Commissioner Henik Maryanto, stated that the presence of Brimob personnel was a form of rapid response by the Indonesian National Police in assisting with emergency situations that could potentially endanger public safety.
“Our personnel moved to assist the extinguishing process, open access to the fire hotspots, and support the smooth handling on the ground so that the impact of the fire could be minimised. Thanks to the synergy of all elements involved, the fire was successfully extinguished and the situation was quickly brought under control,” said Senior Commissioner Henik on Monday (20/7/2026).
The fire, suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, gutted three warehouse buildings. According to witness statements, the fire was first seen on the rear roof of one of the warehouses before rapidly spreading to the buildings on its right and left sides.
After intensive firefighting efforts, the blaze was extinguished, followed by a cooling-down process to ensure no remaining hotspots could reignite. There were no fatalities in the incident, and as the location is a warehouse area far from residential settlements, it did not cause significant disruption to public activities or traffic flow.
In addition to assisting firefighters, Gegana Detachment personnel also secured the area until the cooling-down process was complete to keep the situation conducive and safe for all officers. The material losses from the fire are still being assessed by the relevant authorities.
Metro Jaya Brimob urged the public to always ensure their electrical installations are in safe condition to prevent fires. Should anyone encounter an emergency or require police assistance, they can immediately contact the 110 Police Service, which is available 24 hours a day.
