Three Villages in Karawang Face Clean Water Crisis Amid Dry Season
The Karawang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Karawang Regency, West Java, has stated that three villages are experiencing clean water difficulties as a result of the dry season.
According to BPBD Karawang records on Tuesday, the dry season lasting until the first week of July 2026 has impacted three villages within the Tegalwaru and Ciampel districts.
“A total of 3,428 individuals from 1,228 families across three villages—namely Kutalanggeng Village in Tegalwaru District, as well as Kutamekar and Mulyasejati Villages in Ciampel District—are experiencing clean water shortages,” said Ferry Muharram, Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of BPBD Karawang.
Ferry stated that as a mitigation measure for the drought-affected areas, the Karawang Regency Government, through the BPBD, has distributed 75,000 litres of clean water to the affected regions so far.
The distribution of clean water to the impacted areas has been carried out gradually since the beginning of June 2026, based on reports from the community or submissions from village governments.
BPBD Karawang continues to conduct monitoring through officers stationed in the affected areas to ensure the availability of clean water for the public.
This monitoring effort is being implemented as a form of anticipation against the possibility of the drought-affected areas expanding.
BPBD Karawang has reminded residents to begin conserving clean water usage amidst the threat of drought during the dry season.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the peak of this year’s dry season will occur between July and September, with the height of the season expected in August.
