A fatal traffic accident occurred on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road, specifically in Banjar Dakdakan Kelod, Abiantuwung village, Kediri district, Tabanan, on Tuesday (15/9/2026). A woman died at the scene after falling and being crushed by a truck.

The head of public relations at Tabanan Police, First Inspector Ni Luh Putu Wiwik Endrayani, explained that the accident involved three vehicles: a Honda Vario motorcycle with registration DK 2657 MM, a Yamaha Jupiter MX with registration DK 7680 DC, and an Isuzu Light Truck with registration S 8530 HS.

Based on initial handling, the accident began when the Honda Vario, ridden by Gusti Putu Arka (61) with passenger Gusti Ayu Sumarwati (58), was travelling from Gilimanuk towards Denpasar.

Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, Gusti Putu Arka is believed to have been attempting to change lanes from the southern side to the northern side. At the same moment, a Yamaha Jupiter MX ridden by Desir Umbu Radji (41) with passenger Farida Ngongo (32) was approaching from the opposite direction.

“The collision occurred on the southern half of the road before the Honda Vario managed to enter the northern lane,” she explained.

As a result of the impact, Sumarwati, who was riding pillion, fell onto the northern side of the road. Tragically, at that same moment an Isuzu Light Truck S 8530 HS, driven by Devi Suhariyanto (31) from the direction of Gilimanuk, was passing by.

“The victim was then crushed by the truck’s rear right tyre,” she added.

Sumarwati suffered severe head injuries as well as fractures to her leg and right arm. Her life could not be saved and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was subsequently taken to Singasana Regional General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Honda Vario rider, Gusti Putu Arka, suffered bruising to the head as well as a number of grazes and is currently receiving treatment at Singasana Regional General Hospital.

The two people on the Yamaha Jupiter MX were also injured. Desir Umbu Radji suffered a tear to his right hand, while Farida Ngongo sustained grazes to her right leg as well as complaints of pain in her waist and right ankle.

“Both are being treated at Mengwi I Community Health Centre,” said Wiwik.

The truck driver, Devi Suhariyanto, was reported to have escaped unhurt. Material losses are estimated at Rp1 million.
