Three TTU Legislators and Veterinarian Questioned by NTT Police Over Doctor Icha Case
Three members of the Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regional House of Representatives and a veterinarian with civil servant status underwent questioning at the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police headquarters on Tuesday (14/7). They were examined in connection with the alleged intimidation of doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Dr Icha, whilst she was treating a patient at Leona Hospital in Kefamenanu, TTU, on 13 June 2026. The intimidation is suspected to have led Dr Icha to take her own life. The reported individuals arrived at the NTT Police General Criminal Directorate at around 10:40 Central Indonesian Time, accompanied by their legal team from Bildat Thonak and Partners. The three legislators examined are Veronika Lake, Therezius Lazakar, and Norbertus Tubani, along with the veterinarian from the TTU Livestock Service, Maria Mathildis Sau. ‘Four people are being examined, and the examination is still ongoing,’ Bildat told Media Indonesia. Previously, investigators had scheduled the examination of the four reported individuals for Monday (13/7), but it was postponed to Tuesday (14/7). To date, the Joint Investigation Team formed by NTT Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko continues to examine witnesses in this case. A total of 35 witnesses have been examined in TTU and Kupang, including the family of the late Dr Icha and her boyfriend. Dr Icha died on the second floor of her home in Kupang on 26 June 2026 at 18:30 Central Indonesian Time.
