Three trucks crash on the Semarang-Solo Toll Road, one person killed
Semarang (ANTARA) - Police recorded one person killed after three trucks were involved in a crash at KM 431 on the Semarang-Solo Toll Road in Semarang Regency, Central Java, on Saturday. The head of the Semarang Police’s Traffic Unit, AKP Lingga Ramadhani, explained that the incident began when a semi-trailer truck with registration H 9701 OH was travelling from Solo towards Semarang. ‘The truck struck a truck with registration R 9553 DT that was travelling in the same direction in front of it,’ he said. The two trucks involved then struck a fuel tanker truck with registration AD 8399 HB which was stopped on the hard shoulder due to engine damage. ‘Because the distance was too close, the accident could not be avoided,’ he said. He said the deceased in this unfortunate incident was a passenger of the semi-trailer truck. In addition to the death, three others were injured and were evacuated to hospital. Combined police, toll road operator, and Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) personnel then cleared the accident site of the wreckage of the trucks and debris. The police, he added, are still investigating the cause of the crash, which is suspected to be due to a faulty braking system.
