Three Truck Accidents in a Single Day Cause Traffic Chaos Across Jakarta
Three truck accidents occurred in Jakarta on Wednesday, causing traffic congestion in several areas, including one where the truck’s load spilled onto the road.
According to reports compiled by detikcom on Wednesday (24/6/2026), two of the incidents involved trucks overturning at separate locations: Jl MT Haryono in East Jakarta and the Tomang elevated toll road in West Jakarta. A third accident involved a collision between a truck and a car in the KBT Cakung area of East Jakarta.
Here are the details:
- Truck Overturns on Jl MT Haryono
A truck carrying building materials was involved in a single-vehicle accident and overturned. The truck’s load of building materials spilled onto the road. “A truck transporting building materials experienced a single-vehicle accident (out of control) and overturned,” stated the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) of Polda Metro Jaya via its official X account on Wednesday (24/6/2026). The accident, caused by loss of control, temporarily led to the closure of the road after the Cawang intersection on Jl. MT Haryono heading towards Jl. Dewi Sartika, East Jakarta, precisely around the intersection before the Jatinegara Police Station.
- Truck and Car Collision on KBT Cakung Bridge
A collision between a truck and a car occurred on the East Flood Canal (KBT) Bridge in Cakung, East Jakarta. Traffic heading towards Pulogadung was congested. According to the TMC Polda Metro Jaya account, the accident was reported at 07:24 WIB, occurring after the Harapan Indah Toll exit. The resulting traffic jam prompted police to advise other motorists to seek alternative routes. By 09:40 WIB, the evacuation process was complete and the overturned truck, which had caused the congestion, had been removed.
- Iron-Laden Truck Overturns on Tomang Elevated Toll Road
A traffic accident occurred on the Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road, specifically on the Tomang elevated section heading towards Priok. A truck carrying a load of wire mesh fencing overturned and tilted. The incident, reported on Wednesday morning, caused severe congestion around the location. Traffic from Kebon Jeruk heading towards Tanjung Priok or Cawang via the Janger Toll Road was temporarily impassable because the Tomang Toll Gate was closed. Jasa Marga announced via X that the gate was temporarily shut for handling of the overturned trailer. The accident caused long queues on both the elevated toll road and arterial roads. The truck was later evacuated and the toll gate reopened. Director of Traffic for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Komarudin, confirmed that traffic had resumed after the spilled material was cleared. Photos from the TMC Polda Metro Jaya account showed wire mesh scattered onto the road below the flyover, with police securing both the elevated toll road and the arterial road underneath.
