Darilaut – Three tropical cyclone disturbances in southern Indonesia could trigger extreme weather in several regions of Indonesia. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the emergence of these three tropical cyclone disturbances has triggered the potential for increased rainfall (extreme weather), strong winds, and high waves across a number of provinces in the coming days.

Head of BMKG, Teuku Faisal Fathani, explained based on monitoring by the Tropical Cyclone Warning Center (TCWC) Jakarta that the three systems currently active are Tropical Cyclone Disturbance 90S in the southern Indian Ocean off Banten–West Java, Tropical Cyclone Disturbance 93S to the northwest of the Australian mainland, and Tropical Cyclone Disturbance 92P in the Gulf of Carpentaria south of southern Papua.

“We are monitoring the movement of these three disturbances intensively around the clock. We urge the public to remain calm, but to heighten awareness of potential indirect impacts, such as flooding or strong winds. Please refer only to BMKG’s official channels to avoid misinformation (hoaxes),” said Faisal on Tuesday, 3 March.

Meanwhile, Acting Deputy for Meteorology at BMKG, Andri Ramdhani, said that the latest analysis indicates that Disturbance 90S has a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24-48 hours.
