Three TNI Soldiers Killed in Lebanon, ICWA Supports Government in Urging UN Security Council to Hold Emergency Meeting

The Indonesian Council on World Affairs (ICWA) has condemned the Israeli attack in southern Lebanon on 29-30 March 2026, which led to the deaths of three TNI peacekeepers from UNIFIL and injuries to three others. This escalating action by Israel demonstrates to the world that it has no intention of achieving peace in the Middle East. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the fallen peacekeepers and to the three other injured Indonesian UNIFIL personnel,” said Al Busyra in a written statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4/2026). He also prayed for the full recovery of the wounded peacekeepers. According to him, this tragedy is just one of several incidents that have endangered the safety and security of UN peacekeepers. In addition, ICWA supports UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ statement that UNIFIL is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the origin of the projectile. The UN has strongly condemned the attack targeting peacekeeping forces and urged respect for international law.
