Deep sorrow engulfs the nation following the deaths of three TNI soldiers during a world peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon. However, amid this loss, the state ensures the highest honours are bestowed upon these national heroes.

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto affirmed that the three fallen soldiers have been immediately awarded Posthumous Extraordinary Rank Promotions (KPLB). They are Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Private First Class Farizal Romadhon.

In addition to the rank promotions, all three receive international awards from the United Nations (UN) for their services in the peacekeeping mission.

“The three fallen soldiers also receive Posthumous Extraordinary Rank Promotion for Military Operations Other Than War, the ‘Dag Hammarskjold’ Medal award, continued salary for 12 months (in the form of basic salary, meal allowance, and position allowance), as well as widow’s pension after the continued salary payments are completed,” he stated on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

The state also guarantees all rights for the families left behind. The compensation provided covers various protection schemes, from insurance to educational assistance for the soldiers’ children.

“The compensation for the rights of the TNI soldiers who fell in Lebanon: Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar amounting to Rp1,894,688,236; Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan amounting to Rp1,846,309,049; and Private First Class Farizal Romadhon amounting to Rp1,854,075,205,” he said.

It is known that the Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre (Kapuspen), Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, revealed the identities of the two TNI soldiers who fell, namely Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan. Then, two other TNI soldiers who were injured: First Lieutenant Infantry Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private First Class Deni Rianto.

“The incident occurred amid high escalation of conflict, where an explosion on the vehicle resulted in the deaths of TNI soldier Captain Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, as well as two others injured, namely First Lieutenant Infantry Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private First Class Deni Rianto, who have been evacuated and are receiving medical treatment at St. George Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon,” he said in his statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

Aulia explained that the incident occurred when the Escort Team of Company B of the Task Force Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL, which is part of the Sector East Mobile Reserve (SEMR), was escorting the Combat Support Service Unit (CSSU) convoy as part of duties to provide support from the Eastern Sector UNIFIL Headquarters (UNP) 7-2 to the Task Force Yonmek TNI Konga XXIII-S/UNIFIL Headquarters at UNP 7-1.
