Three TNI Soldiers Fall in Lebanon, Gibran Expresses Condolences
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has expressed condolences over the deaths of three TNI members who were killed in southern Lebanon while carrying out the UN peacekeeping mission as part of UNIFIL.
“I extend my deepest condolences over the passing of Captain Inf. Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Private Farizal Rhomadhon in the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission in Lebanon,” Gibran stated in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4).
Gibran said he supports a thorough investigation by the UN. In line with President Prabowo’s instructions, he added, the state will make every possible effort to repatriate the three bodies.
Private Farizal Rhomadhon fell while carrying out the peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon. He was part of the Indonesian contingent in Company C UNP 7-1 Task Force Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL.
Private Farizal fell due to an artillery attack that struck the location of the Indonesian contingent in the town of Adshit al-Qusyar in southern Lebanon on Sunday (29/3).
Meanwhile, Captain (Inf) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan fell as members of the Escort Team of Company B Task Force Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL, which is part of the East Mobile Reserve (SEMR).
They died while on duty escorting a UNIFIL vehicle convoy in southern Lebanon on Monday (30/3).
The government has assured that the families of the three fallen TNI soldiers will receive compensation of around Rp1.8 billion per person.
