Three TNI Soldiers Charged with Killing State-Owned Bank Branch Chief Seek Acquittal
Jakarta — The defendant in the murder case of the Head of Branch (Kacab) of a state-owned bank, Mohammad Ilham Pradipta, has asked to be acquitted of the charges against him. The case also involves Sergeant Mochamad Nasir, Private First Class Feri Herianto, and Sergeant Frengky Yaru. The defence counsel for the defendant, Captain Zulham, argued that the charges against defendant Mochamad Nasir were not proven. Zulham also urged the panel of judges to accept the defence notes in full, as the charges are unproven. Furthermore, Zulham contended that the charges brought by the Military Prosecutor against Kopda Feri Herianto were also inappropriate. ‘We state that the defendant has not been proven beyond reasonable doubt to have committed the criminal act as charged and demanded by the Military Prosecutor under Article 333 Paragraph (3) KUHP read together with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1 KUHP and Article 451 of Law Number 1 Year 2023 read together with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 Year 2023,’ Zulham added. Previously, Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta had charged three Indonesian National Armed Forces members who are defendants in the case of the murder of Mohammad Ilham Pradipta, the Head of Branch of the state-owned bank, with a prison term and dismissal from military service. ‘Defendant One, Sergeant Mochamad Nasir, main penalty: 12 years, reduced by the period of detention already served,’ said Military Prosecutor Major Chk Wasinton Marpaung when reading the charges on Monday (18 May 2026). ‘Defendant One: Murder in a group as regulated and punished under Article 338 KUHP read together with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1 KUHP read together with Article 458 Paragraph (1) Law Number 1 Year 2023 read together with Article 20 letter a Law Number 1 Year 2023,’ Marpaung stated. ‘Second, concealing a body with the intent to conceal the death, carried out jointly or individually, as regulated and punished under Article 181 KUHP read together with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1 KUHP read together with Article 270 Law Number 1 Year 2023 read together with Article 20 letter a Law Number 1 Year 2023,’ Marpaung added. ‘Defendant Two, Kopda Feri Herianto: main penalty 10 years’ imprisonment, reduced by the time already served.
