Three TNI Personnel Injured as Israel Destroys UNIFIL Headquarters CCTV
Israeli troops reportedly destroyed all surveillance cameras or CCTV facing the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Naqoura, southern Lebanon. This action has triggered an official protest from UNIFIL.
UNIFIL spokesperson Kandice Ardiel stated that the destruction occurred since Friday (3/4/2026). The cameras had previously been used to support the security of military and civilian personnel within the UN compound.
UNIFIL expressed serious concern over the action and affirmed that it will lodge an official protest. Ardiel reminded Israel of its obligation to ensure the safety of UN personnel and to respect international facilities.
In a separate statement, Ardiel also confirmed that three peacekeepers from Indonesia sustained injuries due to an explosion near a UN facility in the El Adeisse area, southern Lebanon. Two of them are reported to be in serious condition.
UNIFIL has been operating in southern Lebanon since 1978 and was strengthened through UN Security Council Resolution 1701 following the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
Tensions in the region have escalated again since Israel launched airstrikes and ground operations following a cross-border incident in early March 2026. This situation persists despite a previous ceasefire implemented in November 2024.
The Lebanese government reported at least 1,422 people killed and 4,294 others injured due to Israeli attacks in the latest period of the conflict.
