Three TNI Personnel Fall in Lebanon, This is the Ministry of Defence's Response
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Three TNI personnel assigned to Task Force Mechanised Battalion XXIII-S/UNIFIL died while carrying out their duties. All of them fell in their capacity as United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping troops.
The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) has confirmed the latest incident affecting two TNI personnel in Lebanon. Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Kemenhan Secretariat General, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, stated that the incident occurred while TNI soldiers were executing the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission.
“The security situation in the area of operations has reportedly escalated in recent days. Previously, on 29 March 2026, one TNI soldier fell and several others were injured due to the impact of the conflict in the operational area,” Rico told Republika in Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
According to him, the latest developments received on Monday (30/3/2026) indicate another incident in southern Lebanon. This affected TNI Task Force personnel who were conducting escort duties to support UNIFIL operational activities and became victims instead.
“In that incident, two TNI soldiers were reported killed, while two others sustained serious injuries. The injured soldiers are currently receiving intensive medical treatment at a healthcare facility in Beirut,” Rico said.
