Three TNI Officers Involved in Acid Attack Case Against Andrie Yunus
The involvement of TNI officers in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus has been revealed. Three of the four suspects are known to hold the rank of first officers.
TNI Headquarters has disclosed the identities of the four suspects. They are Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.
This was stated by the Commander of the TNI Central Military Police (Danpuspom) TNI, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
“Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, Sergeant ES,” Yusri explained.
Yusri emphasised that his side would handle the case professionally and as quickly as possible, given the public scrutiny over the involvement of soldiers, including officers.
“We will work to the maximum with the hope that this investigation process can be carried out as soon as possible, professionally, and then handed over to the prosecutor in this case, the military prosecutor (oditur militer), for trial,” Yusri stressed.
He also assured that the trial would be held openly. “And so far, military trials have always been open,” Yusri added.
Four Suspects from Navy and Air Force
Previously, Yusri stated that his side had received the four suspects alleged to have carried out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The four were handed over by TNI BAIS and originate from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.
“So this morning I received, received from the BAIS TNI commander four people alleged to be suspects in the assault against Mr Andrie Yunus,” Yusri said.
Yusri noted that the four suspects come from two branches. “From the Navy and Air Force,” he added.
Suspected Orders from Someone
The four TNI soldiers are now undergoing intensive examination at Puspom TNI. Investigators are still delving into the possibility of someone giving orders for the acid attack.
“Regarding whose orders? So we are still delving into that because it requires, so to speak, gathering witnesses and then the existing evidence,” said Danpuspom TNI Major General Yusri Nuryanto.
The perpetrators are members of TNI BAIS from the Navy and Air Force branches, namely Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES. In addition, investigators are also examining the motive behind the attack.
Yusri assured that the investigation would be conducted transparently up to the trial stage.
“Then regarding transparency in the investigation, so Puspom TNI will work professionally. We will later report on the stages from the investigation process, filing, then handing over the file to the Military Prosecutor so that in the trial process,” Yusri explained.
“Trust us, we will act professionally and transparently,” he added.
The acid attack on Andrie Yunus occurred on Thursday night (12/3) in Salemba, Central Jakarta. As a result of the incident, Andrie suffered serious injuries and is still undergoing treatment in hospital.
