JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Three global sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), namely the China Investment Corporation (CIC), Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), and the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ), have launched a joint investment platform, the Galaxy Orientis China-ASEAN Investment Platform (CAIP), on 13 April 2026.

This investment platform is designed to promote long-term capital flows and industrial collaboration between China and ASEAN countries.

Amid the deepening integration of China-ASEAN trade and the acceleration of supply chain reconfiguration in Southeast Asia, CAIP was established to capture high-quality investment opportunities in sectors such as industry, healthcare, consumer goods, business services, technology, and others that drive this structural transformation.

CIC Chairman and CEO Zhang Qingsong stated that the formation of this platform is grounded in strong confidence in ASEAN’s economic growth prospects and the significant potential for cooperation between China and countries in the region.

“We hope this fund will not only deliver solid financial returns but also promote economic prosperity in the region,” he said in a written statement on Friday (17/4/2026).

INA Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors Eddy Porwanto added that INA’s involvement in CAIP represents a strategic step to expand access to high-quality investment opportunities. “Through this platform, INA aims to facilitate long-term capital flows, along with expertise and global networks, by partnering with leading global institutional investors in sectors that support sustainable growth and long-term economic value creation in Indonesia,” he said.

Meanwhile, SOFAZ CEO Israfil Mammadov views this partnership as a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration among SWFs to access the world’s most dynamic economic corridor.

By combining collective expertise and long-term capital, SOFAZ is better positioned to leverage the acceleration of trade integration and supply chains between China and Southeast Asia. “SOFAZ is proud to partner with CIC and INA in the China-ASEAN Investment Programme,” said Israfil.

The platform will invest in various sectors deemed to benefit from the region’s economic structural changes, including strategic sectors such as industry, healthcare, consumer goods, business services, and technology.

In its implementation, CGS International Securities will act as the general partner, providing regional expertise, operational infrastructure, and networks in Southeast Asia.

CGS International Chairman Wu Peng explained that they will leverage their strong presence and extensive networks in the region to capture high-growth investment opportunities.

“We thank CIC, INA, and SOFAZ for the trust placed in us to help navigate the complexities of this region while capturing its various growth opportunities,” said Wu.
