Investigators from the High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) have handed over three suspects and evidence in the corruption case concerning the procurement of 70 hectares of land used as the MXGP Samota circuit in Sumbawa for 2022-2023 to the public prosecutors (JPU). The trio will soon stand trial.

“Yes, today is the second phase (transfer of suspects and evidence) for the Samota corruption case,” stated Muhammad Harun Al Rasyid, Head of Legal Information at Kejati NTB, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

The three suspects are Subhan; former Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) of Central Lombok, Muhammad Julkarnain from the Public Appraiser Office (KJPP), and Saipullah Zulkarnain as the owner of KJPP.

The transfer of suspects and evidence followed the case file being declared complete or P-21. “Control of the case handling now fully shifts from investigators to prosecutors to proceed to the prosecution stage in court,” he said.

In the near future, the three suspects will be tried. Currently, the prosecutors are preparing the indictment files for the suspects. “The suspects are currently detained at the Kuripan Penitentiary in West Lombok,” he added.

The Sumbawa Regency Government (Pemkab) purchased the 70-hectare land from former East Lombok Regent Ali Bin Dachlan for Rp 52 billion.

During the investigation, investigators found a state loss in the land purchase process amounting to Rp 6.7 billion. This state loss has been returned to Kejati NTB by Ali BD, who received the payment.

For context, during the land procurement, Subhan was the Head of BPN Sumbawa and acted as the chairman of the land procurement implementation team. Meanwhile, Muhammad Julkarnain served as the appraisal team member.

As suspects, they are charged under Article 603 and/or Article 604 in conjunction with Article 20 letter a or c of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, linked to Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 on amendments to Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
