Police have provided an update on the investigation into the death of a man, identified by the initials DM, who was assaulted and thrown from the second floor of Pasar Grogol in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. Three perpetrators have now been arrested.

‘We have just succeeded in apprehending the perpetrators of the mob attack that resulted in the victim’s death, which occurred at Weston Grogol on 10 May,’ said Grogol Petamburan Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Alexander Tengbunan, as reported by Antara on Thursday (11/6/2026).

The three suspects taken into custody have the initials NA, AE, and MLS. Two of them are minors, whilst the other suspect is an adult, he added.

Alex stated that the suspects were arrested in separate locations, specifically in the West Jakarta area and Rangkasbitung, Banten. One of the three suspects was handed over to the police by their family.

‘Among the evidence we have secured is closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the scene, as well as the clothing the perpetrators were wearing at the time of the incident,’ he explained.

For their actions, police are charging the three suspects under Article 262, paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code concerning mob violence resulting in death.

A man named DM (29) died after being allegedly assaulted by multiple individuals at a billiard venue in the Grogol Petamburan area of West Jakarta. The victim was reportedly rushed to hospital but could not be saved. The victim’s sister, Mita, stated that her younger brother was playing billiards with his girlfriend at the time. The victim’s girlfriend then became involved in an argument with another woman, and the victim attempted to intervene. However, while trying to separate them, the victim was attacked by several men at the location.

‘He was trying to defend or separate them, and then suddenly he was beaten and attacked by more than 15 people,’ Mita said when confirmed.

As a result of the incident, the victim collapsed and was helpless. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital for treatment due to the injuries he sustained. Mita stated that the victim suffered bruising across his entire body and internal bleeding. The victim received intensive care in a coma but ultimately died on Thursday (14/5) at Tarakan Regional Hospital.
