Three Suspects Arrested for Snatching Foreign National's Phone at Bundaran HI, Allegedly Involved in 120 Crimes

Police have arrested three suspects involved in the snatch theft of a mobile phone belonging to a foreign national at Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta. The three perpetrators have been taken into custody.

“We can inform you that among the eight suspects we arrested tonight, three of them are the individuals responsible for the phone robbery at Bundaran HI,” stated the Director of Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters on Monday (18/5/2026).

Police have conducted initial interrogations of the three suspects. Based on their preliminary statements, the group has operated in 120 different crime scenes.

“Based on temporary interviews, the three suspects have been involved in 120 incidents or 120 crime scenes,” he added.

Meanwhile, one other perpetrator remains at large in connection with the snatch theft case. The police are currently conducting a manhunt for the remaining suspects.

“Their accomplices—five individuals who are still fugitives—include one person involved in the Bundaran HI incident whom we are currently pursuing,” he explained.

Previously, viral video footage showed a foreign man being robbed at Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta, prompting the Metro Jaya Regional Police to launch a manhunt.

“We inform you that our team is currently pursuing the suspected perpetrators of the snatch theft involving the foreign national victim,” said Kombes Iman Imanuddin to reporters at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters on Friday (15/5).

Kombes Iman stated that the police are actively tracking the suspects and aim to make arrests in the near future.

According to viral dashboard camera footage, a man was seen standing by the roadside at Bundaran HI, focused on his mobile phone. Shortly after, a rider on a red motorcycle approached the victim and forcibly snatched the phone from his hands. Startled by the incident, the victim attempted to chase the perpetrator but tripped during the pursuit.
