Three Suspects Arrested for Fatal Assault in Menteng

Police have arrested three individuals suspected of assault that killed a resident, identified by the initial K (23), during a clash on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday morning (26/7). Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold E.P Hutagalung, stated that the three suspects involved in the assault have the initials S, T, and U. “Three residents involved in committing the assault, namely Mr S, Mr T, and Mr U, have now been detained at the Menteng Police Station,” he told reporters. He explained that the three are currently being intensively questioned by investigators to determine the origins of the incident. Reynold explained that during the incident, victim K was evacuated along with another victim, identified as DS, to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital but could not be saved. Reynold added that investigators are also examining parties suspected of being involved in the destruction of a cart belonging to an MSME trader and the alleged assault of a resident, which was the initial cause of the dispute. Apart from the three individuals, he said his party has also questioned 15 other people to investigate their respective roles in the two separate incidents. “For the overall incident, we have secured and intensively examined approximately 15 people. However, we differentiate the clustering of the incidents,” he said. “So, regarding the incidents in Matraman, Matraman Dalam, and the incident on Jalan Tambak, we are separating them. Whichever are victims or suspected perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions,” he added.
