Three Suspected Murder Cases Still Under Investigation by Jambi Regional Police
The General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Jambi Regional Police is continuing to investigate three murder cases that drew public attention some time ago but have yet to be solved. Director of General Criminal Investigation for the Jambi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Jimmy, stated on Friday that his team still has the task of uncovering the three murder cases that attracted public interest, and investigators are persistently pursuing their inquiries. The three suspected murder cases in Jambi Province remain unsolved, with police yet to identify the perpetrators behind the victims’ deaths. The first case is the death of Kekey, a four-year-old girl found dead inside a communal Wastewater Treatment Plant septic tank in Rawasari Village, Alam Barajo District, Jambi City, in 2022. Kekey was previously reported mysteriously missing while playing near the Chinese Cemetery area in Rawasari Village. After a two-day search, the victim was found lifeless inside the septic tank, approximately 100 metres from her home. To date, the exact cause of death and the responsible party have not been determined. The second case involves Nasifa, 20, who was found dead and unclothed in a former brick clay excavation pit in Kampung Baru, Muara Tembesi District, Batanghari Regency, in February 2024. The discovery of the victim’s body shocked the community, and she is strongly suspected to be a murder victim. However, the perpetrator behind Nasifa’s death has still not been identified. The third case is the death of Dedi Putra, a resident of Marene Street, Kasang Kumpeh Village, Muaro Jambi Regency, who was found dead in his bedroom on 19 May 2025. Initially, Dedi’s death was suspected to be an accident. However, the victim’s family became suspicious because bruising on the body was deemed inconsistent with an accidental death. These irregularities were subsequently reported to the Jambi Regional Police. Based on the report, investigators conducted an exhumation in August 2025. The official autopsy results stated that Dedi Putra died from injuries suspected to have been caused by a blunt object to the head.
