Three subdistrict heads questioned over Gunawan's fake IDs

Three subdistrict heads have been questioned by the city administration over their alleged knowledge of the issuance of false identification (ID) cards used by Gunawan Santosa, the alleged mastermind of the murder of PT Asaba president director Boedyharto Angsono.
"If the subdistrict heads are proven to be guilty, they will facing stern sanctions, including dismissal," Governor Sutiyoso said on Thursday after inaugurating a special detention center for drug traffickers at the City Police Headquarters.
When arrested, Gunawan -- who allegedly ordered four Marines to shoot Boedyharto and his bodyguard on July 19 -- was carrying three ID cards under the names of Kevin Martin, Indra Amapta and Dustin Bakrie.
The ID cards were allegedly issued in three different subdistricts, Pademangan in North Jakarta and Gunung Sahari and Kemayoran in Central Jakarta.
Sutiyoso admitted that his administration had poorly monitored the issuance of ID cards by subdistrict offices.
"We will summon officials from the City Population Agency, who are responsible for the issuance, to discuss efforts to improve the ongoing poor monitoring system," he said.
City Police chief Insp. Gen. Makbul Padmanagara stressed that ID card forgery was a crime.
"The police will prioritize completing the main dossiers on the murder case of Boedyharto, and the attempted murder of PT Asaba finance director Paulus Tejakusuma on June 5, allegedly masterminded by Gunawan," he said, adding that the police are facing time constraints as suspects can only be detained for up to 20 days.
City Police detective chief Sr. Comr. Mathius Salempang, said that Gunawan had yet to admit to his involvement in the cases.
But, "we have already spoken to witnesses who said he was involved in the crime," he said, declining to give names.
Separately, Chief of Navy Staff Adm. Bernard Kent Sondakh said that the Navy would "borrow" Gunawan from police detention in order to cross check the findings of the earlier investigation of the four marines.
He said, that it was hoped that in questioning Gunawan new suspects would also emerge.
However, he added that the investigation of the marines, identified as Second Lt. SAS, Second Cop. SR, Second Cop. FH, and First Pvt. SS, had already been completed
The dossiers of the marines, who had been detained since July 31, had been submitted to military prosecutors to be processed further, he added.
