Three Student Demonstrations in Jakarta Today, Beware of Potential Traffic Hotspots

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Three student demonstrations are being held at three different locations in Central Jakarta on Monday (4/5/2026) today. The Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first demonstration is taking place in front of the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendikti Saintek) in Tanah Abang. “The first demonstration at 11.00 WIB by the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) Kerakyatan & Civil Society Coalition,” Erlyn said in a written statement. Then, the third rally is being conducted by BEM Universitas Indraprasta PGRI and BEM UNINDRA in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building in Senayan at 11.00 WIB. According to Erlyn, a total of 3,225 combined police personnel are on standby to secure the demonstrations in Central Jakarta on Monday. Meanwhile, traffic engineering at the demonstration points will be carried out situationally, taking into account the number of people on the ground. “Residents can look for other alternative routes during the protest,” Erlyn said.
