Three-Star General Reportedly Appointed as Acting Head of TNI's Strategic Intelligence Agency

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto received the handover of the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) TNI, previously held by Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo. The handover was conveyed as a result of the investigation into the acid attack case against Kontras activist Andrie Yunus. “So we need to state here that, as a form of accountability, the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out today,” said Head of the Information Centre (Kapuspen) Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/3/2026). Aulia did not explain which high-ranking TNI officer (pati) is occupying the Kabais TNI position. Republika has attempted to confirm the name mentioned as the replacement for Lieutenant General Yudi, but it has not been responded to as of the publication of this news. Information obtained by Republika indicates that the Kabais TNI is currently being led by Lieutenant General Richard Taruli Horja Tampubolon. Richard, who actually holds the position of Chief of General Staff (Kasum) TNI, will serve as the acting head (pjs) of Kabais TNI. Richard also serves as Deputy Chair I of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR). When confirmed by Republika regarding the acting head position of Kabais TNI, Richard did not respond to the message sent.
