The South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, together with the Palembang High Court and the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections for South Sumatra, has officially signed a cooperation agreement regarding the implementation of electronic criminal proceedings.

This collaboration aims to optimise the conduct of criminal trials electronically, aligning with advancements in information technology and the need for a modern, transparent, and efficient judicial system.

The strategic agreement was signed directly by the Chairperson of the Palembang High Court, Herdi Agusten; the Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, Ketut Sumedana; and the Head of the South Sumatra Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, Yulius Sahruzah, at the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office building in Palembang on Tuesday.

The ceremony was also attended and signed by all Heads of District Courts, Heads of District Prosecutor’s Offices, as well as the Heads of Detention Centres and Prisons across South Sumatra.

Through this agreement, the three agencies are committed to strengthening the integration of the digital-based integrated criminal justice system. This includes the technical examination of defendants, witnesses, and experts electronically, as well as the management of case documents through a secure and accountable digital system.

This signing momentum is considered vital for fostering synergy between law enforcement institutions, particularly in supporting digital transformation within the national judicial sector.

The implementation of electronic trials is expected to operate more optimally, reducing complex trial bureaucracy and providing a tangible contribution to improving public service quality and legal certainty in Indonesia.
