Three soldiers nabbed in nightclubs

DENPASAR, Bali: Three off-duty Army soldiers were nabbed by Military Police officers at two local entertainment places during an operation on Saturday night.

The three soldiers were arrested after they were unable to justify their presence at the nightclubs.

Two soldiers -- Cpl. Slamet Supriyadi and Pvt. Dadang S -- were caught at the Pesona Irama Nada nightclub in Kuta, and the third, Pvt. Daniel Lulu, was arrested at Harimau Karaoke in Sawung.

The three are posted at the Udayana Military Command based on the resort island of Bali. The military command also oversees security in the province of East Nusa Tenggara.

Daniel unsuccessfully attempted to flee. His arrest was marked by a heated exchange of words between a club security guard and a cameraman from state-owned TVRI television station, who was prevented from entering the Harimau Karaoke building. --JP
