Three Singaporean Banks Simultaneously Record 1 US Dollar Nearing Rp 17,700
Three banks from Singapore have collectively recorded the rupiah exchange rate nearing Rp 17,700 per 1 US dollar. These banks are Bank UOB Indonesia, Bank DBS Indonesia, and Bank OCBC Indonesia.
As of midday trading on Tuesday (12/5/2026), the rupiah remains under pressure from domestic and international sentiments.
From monitoring on each bank’s website, Bank UOB Indonesia, as of Tuesday at 08:12 WIB, recorded the rupiah against the US dollar at Rp 17,668 (bank selling rate).
From Bank DBS Indonesia, as of Tuesday at 10:16 WIB, it was recorded that this bank exchanges 1 US dollar at Rp 17,689 (bank selling rate).
Finally, from Bank OCBC NISP, as of Tuesday at 11:23 WIB, the bank sells 1 US dollar at Rp 17,612.
Meanwhile, at the central bank, Bank Indonesia, today’s transaction rate is still recorded at Rp 17,502 per 1 US dollar. In May, this Tuesday’s rate is the second lowest, after the position on 6 May, when 1 US dollar was recorded breaching Rp 17,512. This is historically the deepest rupiah weakening condition.
What is recorded at foreign banks from Singapore differs from local banks. State-owned banks still place the rupiah exchange rate near the central bank’s rate, in the Rp 17,500 range.
For example, Bank Mandiri, as of Tuesday, exchanges (sells) US dollars at Rp 17,520 (special rate), or Rp 17,560 (TT counter). Meanwhile, Bank BNI, as of Tuesday at 11:35 WIB, places 1 US dollar at Rp 17,560 (TT counter and special rate).
Meanwhile, Bank BRI, as of Tuesday at 11:38, has already placed 1 US dollar at Rp 17,615 (TT counter).
