Three Siak Regency Civil Servants Named Suspects in Project Winner Extortion Case
The Siak District Prosecutor’s Office in Riau has named three civil servants as suspects for extorting or collecting fees related to Siak Regency Government projects for the 2025 fiscal year. The suspects were identified after special crime investigators gathered sufficient evidence regarding the practice of collecting fees from service providers who won projects or tenders within the Siak Regency Government. “Based on the results of the investigation, the investigative team obtained sufficient evidence in accordance with Article 235 of the Criminal Code. This evidence reveals the alleged practice of collecting fees from service providers who won projects or tenders within the Siak Regency Government,” said the Head of the Intelligence Section at the Siak District Prosecutor’s Office, Frederick Cristian Simamora, on Thursday (25/6/2026). The three suspects are JE, the Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Unit (UKPBJ) of Siak Regency, and two other suspects, AS, the Chair of the Working Group Team, and SF, a member of the Working Group Team in Siak Regency. The investigation revealed that suspect JE allegedly ordered AS and SF to request and coerce goods and services providers who won projects or tenders in Siak Regency in 2025 to hand over a fee of one percent of the project value. For their actions, the three suspects have been charged under Article 12 letter e of the Corruption Eradication Law and have been detained by investigators.
