Three Siak Regency Civil Servants Named Suspects in Project Winner Extortion Case

The Siak District Attorney’s Office in Riau has charged three civil servants (ASN) as suspects. The three officials are accused of extortion or levying illegal fees regarding Siak Regency Government projects for the 2025 fiscal year.

According to reports, the suspects were named by investigators from the Special Crimes Unit of the Siak District Attorney’s Office after sufficient evidence was gathered. The investigation specifically focused on the practice of collecting fees from service providers who won projects or tenders within the Siak Regency Government.

“Based on the results of the investigation, the investigative team has obtained sufficient evidence in accordance with Article 2t5 of the Criminal Code. This evidence reveals the alleged practice of collecting fees from service providers who won projects or tenders within the Siak Regency Government environment,” said the Head of Intelligence at the Siak District Attorney’s Office, Frederick Cristian Simamora, on Thursday (25/06/2026).

The three suspects are JE, the Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Unit (UKPBJ) of Siak Regency; AS, a Working Group (Pokja) Team Leader; and SF, a member of the Working Group in Siak Regency.

Investigation results indicate that the suspect JE allegedly instructed AS and SF to request and coerce goods and services providers who won projects or tenders in Siak Regency for the 2025 period. The winners were reportedly required to hand over an amount equal to one per cent of the project value.

For their actions, the three suspects have been charged under Article 12 letter e of the Anti-Corruption Law. Furthermore, the three suspects have been immediately detained by investigators to be held accountable for their actions.
